Considering I've uploaded very little, I thought I'd let you all in on how I draw, using my Sally Pin Up as an example. The final product can be found here: Sally Pin Up
So my drawing process usually starts at some 11pm goes a little like this:
Panel 1: This part of the drawing usually takes the longest, surprisingly. I spend a few hours scribbling a whole lot of shapes 'til I get the pose I want. Not as easy as it looks. A great deal of foul language usually ensues. Every 10 minutes or so, I get a coffee refill. I find the hand jitters help me fluke nice shapes at times.
Panel 2: From here on, drawing becomes incredibly easy. I join some of my scribbles and shapes with a thicker outline to establish the base of my drawing and to make sure the image isnt falling off the edge of the paper. I tend to play a lot of crunchy industrial noises and electronic sounds to bop to in between coffee-breaks. And probably to get rid of the excess caffeine.
Panel 3: Nakey outlines follow. It helps me get the body shapes right before I add clothing and accessories. Or so is my excuse when onlookers give me the look. I get all of the detailed kinks out of the way, such as hands, feet and facial expressions. This stage usually only takes me 15 mins or so.
Panel 4: This part of my drawing process looks the most complex, but is actually the easiest. This is where I add clothing, textures and details. By this stage my coffee pot is empty.
The inking stage that follows usually results in me smudging or ruining the detail of my own work. Did I mention Im a penciller and dont ink particularly well? (And by ink, I tend to mean: going over really quickly with pen before the pencilling smudges.) A great deal of foul language usually ensues until some time near 3am, when I finally scan my final product and give it the big "FUCK YOU!" for keeping me awake and frustrated, being the cynic that I am.
